Guest guest
I liked reading your story Laurel as i have a 6 month old and had a much different experience with the second baby than with the first. with the first i was visiting a homeopath four months post partum because i was so run down and anemic. I have had good energy with the second. Also, the look of the baby just shocked me when she was first born -- such a broad, strong face! All i could think of was draft horses. I didn't eat a pure NT and had a couple of months during an international move where i ate crap, but i managed to keep my fat soluble vitamins and good proteins high throughout. The only thing is i gained more weight second time and it is slower coming off. But i hear this is common with second and third children anyway. Oh yeah, maybe it is because she has an older sister, but my baby is doing things so much earlier than the first and is so much stronger! She was crawling before six months and at 6.5 months she is pulling herself up and even cruising a little. don't know if it's diet for sure but i can't help but wonder. Guest guest
I ate lots of good pasture-fed meats, raw milk, raw butter, cod liver oil, eggs. That sort of thing. I lived in SWitzlerand for half my pregnancy and had easy access to great farm-fresh foods. elaine > Just curious, how did you do this (ie. what did you eat)? Guest guest
Thanks Elaine, that's great encouragement. It all still feels a bit strange to me though intuitively I know I'm doing the right thing for my body. (not trying to conceive yet, still in prep stage). Filippa Re: Re: NT babies/nursing WAS... LOL! seriously, all the testimonials i've heard about NT babies crying very little, not going through the litany of health issues that SAD babies do, learning quickly, etc, sure makes parenthood much more appealing than when i thought all parenthood would be like SAD parenthood! <g> Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Guest guest
Filippa, i had a lot of anxiety about taking large doses of vitamin A in my foods and with the recommended supplementation of cod liver oil. I mostly kept up with it anyway (maybe i went a little lower) and am happy to report no problems. I know mothers brag, but my baby is the sort that makes everyone say 'wow, she's so strong' or 'sturdy.' The people on this list really helped inform me about vitamin A, liver consumption (which sadly i could not tolerate during pregnancy) and related matters. Perhaps you can find the threads in the archives. Even Sally Fallon returned one of my emails assuring me high amounts of vitamin A in pregnancy is how primitive people eat and that it's healthy. Guest guest
Thanks Elaine. I was just pondering how one would stomach CLO during pregnancy actually! (not counting the people on this list who love the flavour). I guess if I overcome some of my squeemishness before pregnancy it will be easier. I am noticing my squeemishness dissipate with meat and even raw liver so it appears to be a matter of re-educating my tastebuds. I'll search the archives like you recommended. Thanks again, Filippa Re: Re: NT babies/nursing WAS... Filippa, i had a lot of anxiety about taking large doses of vitamin A in my foods and with the recommended supplementation of cod liver oil. Guest guest
Filippa, i had to take cod liver oil capsules during my pregnancy! was no way i could take it off the spoon. Capsules are not ideal but i figured it was worth it. elaine > Thanks Elaine. I was just pondering how one would stomach CLO during > pregnancy actually!
