Guest guest
Back when I was serious macro, my counselor was opposed to stevia and other sweeteners on the grounds that the sweet taste on the tongue sets up the body for a sweetener hitting the stomach. To set up the digestion for a sugar and not supply was, in the long run, not any more healthful than actually eating a sweetener, or so he said. A corollary to this line of 'fooling the body' is that stevia is not a foodstuff that my european body evolved with. That being the case, it seems to me that it lacks the value of a traditional food. I'm just putting this stuff out there. I've missed what the big deal is with Stevia. Are the body ecology people recommending it as a NUTRIENT? Or is it simply a sweetner that people are allowed? As a grower I know how thorough the attempts have been to keep this plant a 'secret' in this country. If you can get the seed, you can grow your own. You can grow stevia the look like shrubs in a few months time and they take well to being in pots indoors! thanks -Allan
