Guest guest
Filippa, Unfortunately I haven't unpacked all the way from moving yet, and my copy of Rubin's book doesn't seem to be with the rest of my health and cooking books. Also, his protocol varies a little depending on the illness you have. For CFS, which I had, it was pretty extensive. I've graduated from some of it, so I don't know if I can remember the original protocol exactly, but I'll give it a go. AM: Perfect Food (a fermented green drink) and SuperSeed (a fermented fiber drink)- I added a shake with Goatein protein powder later Before breakfast: 6 Primal Defense, 3 RM10, 3 FYI (for your inflammation) With meals: Omegazyme enzymes Before bed: Perfect Food and SuperSeed and 6 Primal Defense, 3 RM10, 3 FYI Diet: eat the NT way, esp. chicken soups/broths, coconut oil, smooties with raw eggs and raw goat yoghurt. As well as recovering from CFS, I was recovering from 9 months on high doses of Prednisone, and was at risk of losing my vision in my right eye (steroids weren't helping). My hormones function was almost nonexistent when I got off of them. Low adrenal, Low thyroid, my pituitary (I think... could be a different gland) was shut down and wasn't signalling them to release hormones. That's a common effect from steroids, and it's hard to get it to switch back on. In fact, it's so dangerous to have surgery after getting off steroids for over a year that they would have to put you back on them in order to survive the surgery. (no healing hormones). Despite the lowest health of my life, within months of the protocol people were commenting on the color in my cheeks, and how much healthier I looked. I have NEVER had color in my cheeks or lips without makeup. The only day I spend on the couch (a common occurence before) is once/month when I get cramps! To recover from the hormone imbalances I took licorice extract, dessicated adrenal, thyroid cream, pregnenolone, and DHEA. Not necessarily all at the same time. I used muscle testing to determine what I needed when. It was a little scary, since some of these had warnings about not taking them before the age of 40, but I listened to what my body wanted, and the difference in my health is amazing. I have taken supplements in the past (lots and lots), and they never really seemed to help much. They also upset my stomach and made me burp. GofL never did this. It was interesting that muscle testing led me to hormone supplements that absorbed through the skin or under the tongue mostly. Because you can't assimilate what you can't digest! I believe Gof L (and Standard Process, which has great supplements) were the first supplements I could actually digest. It's worth it to get the book, Patient Heal Thyself. If you're in the U.S., health food stores give them away with a purchase of Primal Defense. Lot's of online vendors do the same. I collect them to give away to people with chronic illnesses that I meet. The protocol is expensive AND extensive, so desperate and ill people are probably the only ones who are going to be willing to try it. BTW, as soon as I started the protocol, the lesion on my retina went inactive, which 4 months of Prednisone could not accomplish. I believe vit. A deficiency was a huge factor in my eye disease (I can't convert beta-carotene to A- carrots make me turn orange). Also around the time my eye started to heal, I was craving pescado frito, fish fried with the head on (fish heads great for eye health!). Previously thought eating something with eyeballs was GROSS. Muscle testing said I needed to eat liver (this was before I even made the vit. A connection and I was surprised by this answer). I told my eye surgeon I was eating liver and he told me not to eat too much because it was dangerous! And Prednisone, one of the most devastating drugs out there, isn't? LOL. Anyway, sorry so long. I'm afraid I'm a bit passionate on this subject... Hope this answered your questions, OK, Filippa. > , I know it's an individual thing, but just out of curiosity, what supplements did you find most helpful?
