thanks to sally for coming to maine this past weekend and giving an

excellent seminar for our community! i received an email today from one of

the farmers who attended, who lives in my area, and who's organic produce is

about the best i've had anywhere.

in any case, i couldn't answer her questions (below) re sally's model of

farming and how to add dairying as the centerpiece. (this is actually news

to me, i must be out of the loop!) can any of you farmers address this? or

her questions about breeds, etc? (i only know the basics). and sally, if you

see this could you let us know where to get more info on the model you

outlined at the seminar? i'd like to forward all relevant info to this

farmer...i am just *thrilled* that she is committed to focusing on

nutrient-density (which she already has been in her produce i believe) and

specifically that she's interested in dairying now. We have only ONE local

source of quality raw dairy (but no cream) and they dry up in the winter, so

it's very important that we encourage other local farmers to start raw

dairies based on WAPF principles. (we're shipping in two sources from up

north for the time being, but of course *local* is where it's at!)

luckily, also, her daughter works at a local HFS, and she attended the

national WAPF conference in may. after the conference there suddenly

appeared pastured organic raw cow's milk and raw butter at the store for the

first time! WAPF rules! LOL!

thanks for any help/direction/resources :-)

Dear Suze,

Timing didn't work out for me to talk with you before you left. Robin and I

got so much out of Saturday's workshop with Sally Fallon. You have

obviously done so much research into nutrient dense foods and local

supplies, that I wanted to find out some things from you. Unfortunately,

our parent evenings at school have been on the same Tuesday evenings, so

haven't been able to come to WAPF, but this has been on my mind.

Sally did say on Saturday , that everyone comes to this from a 'different

place' and is ready to hear more or less about these food issues. True, and

even though we have been farming for 21 years, doesn't mean we are set on

one system. Actually, every year sees us tweeking our system. ANyway, I

feel like it is time to go to Sally's model of farming, and even though

Robin and I quickly sketched it from her slide, need more info about it. Do

you know more? With the nutrient dense operation at the center(dairy) and

all else surrounding it, we are dead opposite, with no dairy. How do we add

that piece? Do you know where to find info about breeds, how tos, etc?

Wouldn't it be great to learn more so that other small farms in the area

could add this component to their places?

As a grandmom, I am feeling so strongly about providing cream and

butter/cheese for the kids.......but how?

If you have websites, books to recommend, I would appreciate them. Thanks

for being passionate about this and voicing your concerns and ideas.

Chris
