With winter coming, the hose system isn't going to work! He's bought

2 black, plastic, freeze-proof basins that hold 6 gallons each.

However, he knows that the ducks are going to jump in and out of the

water, splashing a lot of it and almost certainly going to the

bathroom in it.

------------> Hmmm...when i was younger (so I don't have a ton of detail to

offer), we dug a trench from the house to the barn with a ditch witch and

ran an insulated pipe out to the horses troph. I don't remember if we

treated it any different in the winter as far as the hook up to the house

and such, but I do remember we always had running water to the barn even in

the winter. We ran our electricity through that ditch as well. My father

did it in a short period of time, so it probably wouldn't be too difficult.
