Guest guest
Janine, I had 3 c-sections. I am not suggesting that the way I did things was perfect, but my goal was to look " cute " again by each baby's first birthday pics J . With that being said, I did meet my goal with each child. My last kid I gained-yes brace yoiurself-80 pounds!! But lost all that plus 30 more by his first birthday which was in April. I found with all three that the best solution during the first two or three months was really controlling my diet. That was really hard when I was breast feeding because I was hungry ALL the time and I am not one of those people that loses weight when I breast feed. I, like you, got restless much sooner than the Dr. liked. I went for longer, slower walks until I felt up to picking up the pace. I also put on the snuggly instead of using the stroller-that adds ten pounds(my kids) to your walk. You can modify just about every exercise if you feel a " tug " . It is really important not to strain yourself during this time. Let you body heal and take it easy. It will happen once you have recovered. Remember your body took almost 11 months to grow and birth that beautiful baby. . . you had major abdominal surgery. . . give yourself at least that time to recover and reclaim your body. Until then, it still belongs to mother nature J . Be healthy with your diet and move but don't strain. Good luck and congratulations! I am not supposed to lift weights for the first 12 weeks, and my midsection is very slowly recovering, but I'm thinking there must be some things I can start doing that don't involve the core--probably nothing that moves mountains, but just some things to get my body and mind back into the fit mindset and re-establish it as part of daily life after over a month of not moving (I was hospitalized for the last part of the pregnancy). Other than walking, I've added calf raises and some simple arm movements without weights. The exercises need to either be things I can do while breastfeeding (like my single arm movements) or while carrying the baby (like my calf raises). Does anyone have experience or suggestions? -Janine
