Guest guest
Sounds Great Filiippa. I am inspired. When is our breakfast/lunch date again? LA :-] Joanne PS. for preconception, how about fish eggs? We could blend with raw cheese or quark for a dip with carrot and celery sticks. I'll try to find some locally. I also feel more raw egg would be good (perhaps in your mid-morning smoothies if you are hungry enough. Would that be over eating for the undereating phase WD guys? ) The fermented vegies you are adding are gonna be great. How did you feel after the raw liver pills? Much more energy? ^^ " coriander/kefir/garlic/sea salt dip " can we have the recipe please....

PS. for preconception, how about fish eggs? We could blend with raw cheese or quark for a dip with carrot and celery sticks. I'll try to find some locally. ==> Sounds good! If I can eat raw liver pills I can eat fish eggs! Wish I'd been more into them in Japan when I had the chance. Maybe the Japanese grocer Sunmart might have them? I'll check next time I'm there. I guess they wouldn't be fresh though. I also feel more raw egg would be good (perhaps in your mid-morning smoothies if you are hungry enough. Forgot yesterday and didn't worry today because of all the ice cream. But I guess I should be having them every day. The fermented vegies you are adding are gonna be great. ====> I've made saurkraut a few times now but ate them all up with sausages on Monday (after you recommended the Q-store butcher - they were yummy but I forgot to get the gluten free ones!). How did you feel after the raw liver pills? Much more energy? ====> Can't say. I still got the afternoon sleepies but maybe because of the sweet smoothie I had. On the whole I would say I have more energy and I think I'm looking healthier. ^^ " coriander/kefir/garlic/sea salt dip " ====> yes it was yummy scrummy. I just blended a bunch of coriander with kefir cheese, raw garlic and sea salt. Made a great topping for the zucchini pancakes and a great dip with the cucumber today. yum yum. ps. to everyone, forgot to mention that almost everthing I eat is organic/pasture fed/free range/raw Thanks Joanne ;-) Filippa
Guest guest
>I know cooked miso soup in the morning isn't really WD but it was to satisfy hubby who looked uncomfortable with the lack of " breakfast " food. I weaned him off bread onto porridge and now am weaning him off that but he's still clinging to the idea of breakfast foods even though miso soup is a traditional Japanese breakfast (and he's Japanese)! Ah well, we'll get there. My main query is am I eating enough for preconception diet? Broth for breakfast is awfully traditional though, so I'd go for it. I'd say: follow your appetite. It takes a couple of weeks to adjust, but my appetite did a 100% shift in odd unpredicted ways. In theory, if your appetite is working, you will eat what you NEED. I've found that in fact that is happening. Some people gain weight on this diet, some people lose weight. But when you have a lot of body fat, leptin is supposed to be produced and THAT is supposed to curtail your appetite some. If you have less fat, you should have more appetite, and probably appetite for more calorific things. So healing a person's appetite should autmatically take care of " eating enough " . I've been eating less and less during the day (just don't feel like it) but if I get hungry, I eat (just not starches). Seems like you have good nutrients in your diet though! The main thing is to get folic acid (my sister lost a fetus to spina bifida) and vitamins, and make sure you have *some* body fat. -- Heidi
Guest guest
Thanks Heidi. Do you think it's OK to assume I'm getting enough folic acid from my diet or do you think it's important to take a supplement? I have fat on my thighs and bottom but nowhere else, does that count? ;-) ~ Filippa Re: food diary (preconception mode) Seems like you have good nutrients in your diet though! I don't know much about the folic acid issue. I don't absorb vitamins well, I KNOW that, so I took folic acid supplements. Others might disagree. But you have a rather ideal diet compared to most women, and I'm guessing you weren't as old as I was then either. -- Heidi

Guest guest
I'm 33 and hubby is a young 48. I've only been eating meat for just over a year now and only more so lately so I still have low iron/zinc and hyper-sensitive to cold and heat (but especially cold). My dilemma is about vitamins. I know I don't absorb my food well so maybe I should take vitamin supplements. There seem to be so many contradictions about vitamins - we need them, we don't need them, we should get them from our diet, we can't get them from the modern diet, etc etc. I am thinking of taking ionic minerals though and now I'm wondering if I should take vitamins too? I really want to have a NAPD baby a la Weston Price!! ~ Filippa Re: food diary (preconception mode) Sounds like you are in good shape! Fat on the thighs and bottom are exactly where it should be. Guest guest
Filippa, i've been doing a lot of coconut oil reading and hence thyroid reading. Your sensitivity to hot and cold, esp. cold, could be indicative of a thyroid disorder. Pregnancy can make that a lot worse. Elaine > and > hyper-sensitive to cold and heat (but especially cold). Guest guest
Thanks Elaine, well hopefully the coconut oil will balance that but I might get my thyroid tested too - I wonder if that's why I'm thin. I eat more than anyone in my family - they all call me " hollow legs " - always have!
