Jafa, I agree with this too, and if you want lean abs the best exercise is the squat, because it burns the most calories. I have recently incorporated some ab exercises into my daily routine, but they are pure bodybuilding vanity and have nothing to do with health. There's no reason at all for women to do them, since the ideal sexy abs for women involve more leanness than muscle size. Chris
Guest guest
DMM-- I noticed that situps aren't on your list of the most beneficial exercises. Is there are reason for this? Also if you do recommend situps, what type do you consider the most effective for getting rid of excess flub. Also, which exercises listed incorporate the biceps/triceps? Thanks, Jafa " Dr. Marasco " <mmarasco@...> wrote: ADVERTISEMENT
Guest guest
Nope it wasn't an oversight. I think sit ups, crunches and the like are a waste of time and an excellent way to hurt your neck. Ab work never gets rid of flub, if you gots flub you have a diet problem not an ab problem. Pullups, chinups and seated rows will perform more than admirably on the bis and tris. DMM > ADVERTISEMENT > >

Not to sound like a broken record or anything, but for what it's worth the squat also gives the bis and tris a good workout. If you want a concentration in that area the other exercises are good, but squat pretty much does the whole body including the abs and arms. Guest guest
To sum up. Situps won't get rid of flub. Will situps tighten the muscles, give you a 6 pack like the body builders have? It appears it does do this for them. I have had 3 kids, and can't seem to tighten up the flab completely. What can I do to tighten this area up if you don't think situps will work? Aerobics? You say diet, but I am already doing that. Anything specifically? Thanks, Jafa " Dr. Marasco " <mmarasco@...> wrote: Nope it wasn't an oversight. Guest guest
Jafa Diet gets rid of abdominal flub that's it. You can do a million sit ups and it won't impact your abdominal flub. It is physiologically impossible to " spot reduce " you're either dropping your body fat percentage and in turn flub or you're not. If you have too much flub there's something wrong with your diet. Sit ups or any abdominal work in the name of fat reducing is a complete and total waste of time. Body builders have a 6pack because their body fat levels are ridiculously low. If they had the same body fat as you and did the same amount of sit ups they'd have rock hard abs underneath a thick layer of " flub " . Sit ups are a waste of time and energy and a good way to hurt your neck as I've said. " Core " abdominal and low back work is good for strengthening, like medicine ball training or compound weight exercises such as the olympic lifts. These have little or nothing to do with removing flub from any one area. I know its sad. Its like when you found out there was no santa claus or no tooth fairy or that politicians couldn't be trusted. Sorry to burst your bubble but if you wanna 6pack better change that diet. And sorry there's no magic here either, its different for different folks. DMM > > ADVERTISEMENT > > > >
Guest guest
DMM: I know you said that there is no one diet that will help get rid of stomach flab, but any suggestions would be appreciated. I thought that aerobics helps to rid the body of body fat, including the stomach. Jafa " Dr. Marasco " <mmarasco@...> wrote: Jafa Diet gets rid of abdominal flub that's it. Guest guest
I really don't have a specific suggestion as it really is different for each person. For some they eat like a garbage can and their metabolic system burns fat without problem. Others lift weights 5 times a week and run 40 miles a week and remain fat as a hog. You really need to do some experimentation with your own self to find your way. Sorry if this sounds like a cop out, its not it really is how things are. Aerobics or the like will NOT burn fat off a body that is resistant to do so. I'll repeat... if you have too much flub around your middle your diet needs changing. Obviously this is assuming you already are exercising. Meaning regularly active not situps every day. Warrior diet should help, as well as small protein-rich low-carb snacks during the day time, moderate caffeine during the day, and exercise. Anything that increases your steroid production such as a high-fat diet especially saturated fat SHOULD produce fat loss in most people, but in people who are genetically programmed for fat storage or who have had a long history of chronically elevated steroid hormones, they will have a different type of receptor on their fat cells that is unresponsive to steroid hormones. Increasing muscle mass will increase your resting energy turnover. Detoxing should help. Fat stores toxins, if you do not properly elminate them when they are released, you will never get rid of the fat, regardless of the other factors.
