Guest guest
Thanks , I know what you meant. So many people think that there is a magic pill, magic diet, magic SOMETHING that will help them to lose weight. Really it just takes hard work, motivation (why are you doing this?) and determination to lose the weight and keep it off (which is sometimes harder.) I've lost weight before (not this much but a lot) and re-gained it because I still thought I looked fat, I didn't realize that it takes more time and other exercises to change the shape of my body, now I do. I feel that I know how to lose the weight, I just need to stick with it and not give up! I need to change my whole lifestyle so that I can have the healthy body that I want and deserve. On one Ophra's shows an audience member asked Bob Greene (Ophra's trainer) how he can get motivated to work out. Bob told him that if you don't have the motivation to exercise then you just have to force yourself to do it, then later the motivation will come. That is what I'm going to do. Since I get bored easily I'm not going to limit myself to doing any one exercise or rotation everyday because I may get bored and stop. I'm going to have a variety of videos to choose from PLUS I'm going to walk on my treadmill and ride my stationary bike. I know that it will take me a long time to lose the weight but it will come off, I just have to be patient. Jen nancydewolf wrote: You did have an extremely challenging year Jen. Your accomplishment though in your profession is something to be very proud of. You worked extremely hard to get that and I KNOW you can apply that same attitude to fitness and health too. I know you didn't mean do the exercise for you, it's just that so many of my WW members tell me they come to meetings to get motivated... I turn around and tell them your leader (me or anyone else) and other members can encourage, cheer and inspire you but true motivation comes from within... some days the motivation is REALLY low and those are excellent days to come into a meeting and get that encouragement, cheering and inspiration that can help you reach down further and grab some more motivation though (so for us here in this group, the equivalent is to read other people's postings about their exercise and struggles to overcome lack of motivation and to post about our own to get some encouragement). That's all I meant. Anyway, keep remembering how hard you worked to get that QA III, despite all the health and other challenges you faced this year and use that strength and that success from your hard work to help you remember that you have the inner resources you need to lose weight and get yourself fit too and achieve any other goals you have for yourself (if you can identify specifically what those inner resource are that you had then and can try to use again now that will help you a lot too, I just led WW classes on that subject last week as a matter of fact) . I'll be here too, along with so many others, cheering you on when you're doing well and, I hope, lifting when you're down too. I hope 2008 is full of blessings for you Jen!!! Re: Christmas Day: Kathy Power Walk for Weight Loss Great job on becoming a consistent exerciser! Now you can help me....please Jen nancydewolf <nancydewolfsbcglobal (DOT) net> wrote: With all the junk I've been eating since yesterday I needed a workout! Plus, today is my 1 year anniversary as a consistent exerciser!! Yes, last year, like this year, I had extra time between festivities and decided to get a workout in. For some reason, last year it kicked off my wanting to exercise consistently, starting with 2 days a week, then 3, then more. Now I'm usually averaging between 4 and 6, sometimes 3 and sometimes 7 but mostly 5. I don't know why except that it had been buzzing around in my head for a long time and on Christmas Day 2006 I just started! :-) Anyway, today I didn't have a lot of time so I did the 30 minute walking workout. DH got me 3 lb. dumbbells (I thought I had 3 pounders before but when I weighed them I found out they were actually 2.5 pounds) among other things for Christmas (gifts of fitness posting coming later or tomorrow, we're due at my mother-in-law's soon) and I used those for the first time. For those not familiar, this workout uses hand weights for upping the cardio work and for some upper body and standing abs toning mostly while you're in motion (you don't have to use weight though, a modifier uses no weights). I would have never thought an extra 1 total pound, between both dumbbells, would really make much of a difference but holy cow, it sure did! I got such an awesome workout today! I was working so hard it seemed like a totally different workout than what I had been doing with this one! I'm noticing my cardio endurance has really shot up lately with all the cardio I've been doing, especially the more challenging workouts (like this one today) and that's pretty cool. Anyway, gotta run. Merry Christmas to everyone!!
