Guest guest
I ended up with what I'm calling a bonus workout since I didn't expect to get anything in this weekend. We ended up with 8" of snow total and none this afternoon so we only had to be plowed out once and I didn't have to shovel because DH did it (I was planning to have to do it again later but they canceled the winter storm warning) so I did a video workout. DH actually enabled today's workout. My dad got us a TV set with a dvd/vcr player built into it for Christmas and it is being delivered tomorrow (yes I have a very generous Dad and no, he's not interested in adopting anyone else). That meant the dvd/vcr player in the basement needed to come upstairs and the one we had up here (with a non-working vcr part) is going on freecycle. Anyway, I had mentioned I'd like to probably work out today but then he moved the dvd/vcr player and there was no way I was working out in the middle of the family room with everyone walking in and out and all around so I figured I just wouldn't work out. So, sweet DH that he is, he hooked up the one I'm going to freecycle just so that I could do a workout! (Part of me said, oh darn, I admit it!) Since it had been quite a pain to hook it up to the 30 year old TV we have down there I felt like I absolutely had to use it so I did Kathy 's Peak Fat Burning cardio workout from her Super Slimdown Circuit dvd. With all the Christmas yummies around, which I'm doing a pretty good job of avoiding but not entirely, I decided I really needed a tough cardio and this is the most demanding one I have. I follow the advanced modifier again (and it's good I did this on my upstairs TV a while back so I'd know which one she is, they are color coded according to intensity and my old TV doesn't show colors well) and worked extremely hard. This one has six 2 minute intervals and then 2 minute active recovery periods with lower body toning. I really love this workout though the last interval is a little difficult for me to follow (the choreography is pretty simple but the movements are very fast) so I kind of jump and jog for some of it instead of doing exactly what they're doing. I still end up breathless (she tells you she wants you to be breathless in the intervals) though it is more like huffing, puffing and desperately trying to get some oxygen! As I was doing the last stretch though, lying on my side for a quad stretch, my hand hit my club step which started to fall on my head so I reached up and "caught" it with my right pinky finger. Said finger then swelled quite a bit and has been extremely sore. I iced it and am avoiding using it much (though I'm a touch typist so it is working right now), took some Motrin and it is finally getting better I think. I'm still glad I worked out though! Tomorrow, assuming we have school, I have the day off until it is time to pick up the kids at school for DD's dance class. I'm planning on doing Ripped to the Core then work on decorating the house, assuming I can still move. We got the tree decorated today after my workout and started doing the house but it was just too overwhelming. Might do some baking tonight and possibly tomorrow too. I feel a lot better overall having done a workout so yea me! :-)
