Hello,Forgive me if I sound ridiculous but could I still have PA?When I stayed in hospital I was eating lots of salty food purposely thinking it would raise my bp, if I had PA.I was eating salty crips, bacon sandwich etc I did eat bananas for a few days 1 a day and did have yogurts (potassium foods).I was still smoking too not a lot (4 a day)My bp was taken reguarly and was either low or okay. They never tested aldosterone. If there was no high BP then it can't be PA can it? I thought smoking can lower bp and low potassium smoking can lower bp?I'm probably just confused with it all. Ill won't ask any more, sorry if I'm sounding ridiculous.Sent using BlackBerry® from OrangeSender: hyperaldosteronism Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2010 12:23:45 -0500To: <hyperaldosteronism >ReplyTo: hyperaldosteronism Subject: Re: Re: Urine PH and PA They add acid to preserve the urine HIAA.Same for catecholamines usually. They should have given you a special jug to collect HIAA in that contains acid. Be careful what you stick in the jug!.CE Grim On Jun 15, 2010, at 8:29 AM, Francis Bill SUSPECTED PA wrote:My search for information on this doesn't really give good imformation. Some say any PH above 5.5 needs to be look at more. I have the same problem. The test for me was to check HIAA-RA. result of test 1.9 mg/g range creat 0 - 10.0. The test was done as noted This specimen was submitted with a pH greater than 5.0. Optimum pH for this assay is 1.0-5.0. > > In looking at my urine PH tests it ranges from 5.5 to 8. Only have one reading of 5.5 this was before starting diuretics. after this the lowest is 6. > > If you have PA what if any thing does this do to urine PH?>
