Guest guest
Supertrainers: I have been trying to learn some exercises which are executed in a ballistic way. The exercises which I have tried are pushpress and pushjerk. I used a hollow metallic rod which weighs less than 0.5kg while learning the basic movement of push press and push jerk. I find the whole movement pattern extremely " artificial " when using very little weight. Am I right in assuming that the " naturalness " of the movement will become evident when using heavier weights? What sort of weight should one start out with? Are there any general guidlines to remember while executing ballastic movements? This concerns the weightlifting movements, Snatch and Clean & Jerk. I have heard so much about them on this forum, that I want to learn them to do it myself. Has there been any discussion of " weightlifting-do it yourself " on this forum? I have looked through the archives, but most of what I have read assumes that the reader knows how to do weightlifting. Those of you who have taught weightlifting to newbies, how do you teach Snatch and Clean & Jerk? Should one learn to do the whole movement in one go; or learn it in parts? Looking forward to recommendations other than " find a coach " . Raghu Ratabole Bangalore
