Guest guest
read an article this morning by Rick Mendosa, he of the famous 'glycemic index' which baffled me, to put it mildly... the article on http://www.mendosa.com/satiety.htm is about a 'satiety index' developed by Australian researcher Dr. na Holt and her associates at the University of Sydney.... their conclusions fly in the face of my personal experience and my observations with family and friends... the other 'irritating' element is that they used everyday 'normal' foods including jelly beans, margarine chips [crisps] and more... any comments appreciated. Guest guest
A lot of the " satiety index " doesn't agree with my observations either, but I LOVE the concept. I started tracking my food -- how long a given meal would keep me full (because I was having SOOO much trouble with constant hunger). Now the WD blew the whole thing out of the water, and it turns out that really I have the most problem the day AFTER I react to some food (cortisol, I'd imagine), but still, the concept is worth testing. I have found, for instance, that I can eat an infinite amount of nuts (which, one really shouldn't do if one wants to lose weight) but am instantly full after one bowl of good broth. I wouldn't rely on tables though ... I think satiety probably has some general rules (like, broths probably trigger fullness quicker than dry foods) but it's awfully individual. -- Heidi >read an article this morning by Rick Mendosa, he of the famous 'glycemic index' which baffled me, to put it mildly... >the article on <http://www.mendosa.com/satiety.htm>http://www.mendosa.com/satiety.htm is about a 'satiety index' developed by Australian researcher Dr. na Holt and her associates at the University of Sydney.... their conclusions fly in the face of my personal experience and my observations with family and friends... the other 'irritating' element is that they used everyday 'normal' foods including jelly beans, margarine chips [crisps] and more... >any comments appreciated. > >Dedy >
