Again, I remind you this was a crude method back in 2003ish to slow down the multi-disciplinary “Auto PIP Mills†which hit their high point in the late 90’s…they

are now coming back…that is the multi-disciplinary PIP mills and with the added benefit of apparently providing kickbacks to consumers who become patients! I’m hearing of ads to primarily the Hispanic population that they can get a $$ and TVs if they come

in as a patient…..nice and professional can’t wait to see one of these ads splashed up on the big screen during a legislative hearing at the Capital? If you want your patient to have physical therapy send them to a darn colleague who provides physiotherapy

and rehabilitation services…..it’s not rocket science support your colleagues…..gain an understanding that they are only to provide the very specific services you write a script for and you are the managing chiropractic physician….

Not being able to refer to a physical therapists? Trust me you should have bigger worries like losing auto PIP completely which the Oregon Chiropractic Association

via it’s Insurance Relations Committee is working to ensure doesn’t happen like Florida!…our first meeting was with a State Farm SIU manager….very enlightening……you want to save auto PIP? Advance the profession here in Oregon? Gain that level playing field?

Doctors,

I'm guessing this question is in reference to State Farm's repeated, bad faith insistence that this is actually the case for PIP. The answer is that while I believe the legal position is without merit* , patients usually avoid a lawsuit by simply going to an

MD or DO to get the referral. I've told several providers they can let their patients know that I'll challenge this BS pro bono in attempt to get an order to end the practice, but so far patients have decided it is preferable to waste a little of their time

and State Farm's money to go get a referral from an physician acceptable to State Farm.

* It is without merit because it pulls a definition of "physician" from a chapter of the ORS that governs other specialties, and ignores that DCs are mentioned at two other points in the very same statute that supposedly needs interpreting, clearly contemplating

that they are licensed phyisicans. Definitions of physician in particular sections of ORS are only to be used in those particular sections.
