Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: bbrowne123 In my son's nursery class ( he is 4 almost 5) there were children who started in september who were aged 2 and 10 months. They were there for babysitting purposes. clearly there is a financial element to starting school so young, but very questionable as to whether it benefits the child. ====>I don't think it's questionable at all. Children this young benefit most from interactions with their parents and are the most harmed by formal education. Institutional children is what I call them and it's important for the schools to get them this young as they can indoctrinate them against any kind of individual thinking capacity. Lots of studies coming out now that talk about the longer time spent away from the parents, before 4, is associated with a lack of what they call "family loyalty". A code word for bonding. The longer school is delayed, the better for the child. Lots more studies point to the longer school is delayed the more the child is innoculated, or not susceptible to peer pressure. Ours was 6 when she started and if I would have had my way about it she would have been 8. More critical for boys to be older, than for girls as they mature slower. There is a benefit, or pros and cons to formal schooling as the child gets older as they have to live in the world and school is an important place to come into contact with a wide variety of people, as they will in the world. But given the choice between a poor schooling situation before the age of 10 and home, I'd pick home schooling every time. I call it "complete protection with education" (about people from the parents) before the age of 10. This education about people can be done in a variety of ways using family, friends and/or observation of people at the Mall, for example and lots of talking. After 10 if you've done your job then the child can handle a large variety of people, even semi crazy people, with a parent's support. Having just removed my son from his school, the more i read and listen to other parents who home educate, it has made complete sense to remove him. I cant think of one reason to send him back to school. >> _Click here: School must start at seven | Guardian daily comment | Guardian > Unlimited_ (http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,2225805,00.html) > > I thought this was interesting in light of my recent questions about > starting in reception at 4 years old...>
