Guest guest
Hey ladies (and i think there's a gentleman here too.., right?) weeeelllll....didn't make it to WW as planned two saturdays ago but went this past sat and yikes, reality has entered the building. i measured myself at home and that was bad enough, but the weight--- eek. so, cover your eyes if you're easily shocked, the OMG weight is 223.2 lbs, 5'7 " , waist 40 " , hips 45.5 " . That was more than enough for a kick in the baggy pants. so, started the points (flex) plan; that seemed easier than the core plan for some reason, but i may switch back and forth to change it up a bit after i get further along. i'm doing the online tracking, and it took a bit to figure it out, but i'm a pro at it now and there's a place to write notes on each day..so i just keep cheering myself on with those notes. get weighed again on saturday so we'll see how it goes, but i think i will be pleased with my start. i still did jane fonda's LOWER BODY SOLUTION prior to my first session, and bought the WW's GET MOVING MIX; kind of a beginner's workout set. one dvd with 5 workouts: basic aerobics, cardio dance, pilates/yoga, toning and abs. fonda's LBS is more floor than step, led by 3 instructers, but it's a quick 35 minutes, and fonda leads a pretty good abs/legs toning session. for those of you who are in better shape, i would think this would be a good workout for one of your lighter days...but you'd probably want to wear weighted gloves (i will be adding them as i get stronger---see? i've been reading the posts). the cueing by all three is pretty good. there is a very short standing leg toning session that leads into cool-cown. WW GMM is led by petra kolber, who's cueing is also good. all the workouts are 20minutes long from warm-up to cool-down, except for the abs; abs are ten minutes. the ab workout (at least to me) has a couple of new moves---there's an effective variation of the oblique crunches. lying supine, legs flat on the floor. place one foot on the toes of the other and lift opposite arm to the ceiling. keep that arms shoulder bladeback (toward spine) as you move the raised arm over your center line. it took me a bit to figure this out, but if you keep the shoulder blade back, it forces the opposing obliques to work, rather than the shoulder pushing the arm over so you wouldn't feel like this was doing anything. once i got that, i could feel those muscles on the anterior hip working. I am a surgical assistant, so my job is a LOT of standing..on the floor, on a stool, holding things in place for for long periods of time while the doctor does his thing. that also means that food is eaten on the fly. i might get lunch in a timely manner, or i might get to eat about 6-7hrs after my shift starts! the temptation to eat whatever, is sooo there. so i've been packing my lunch, and eating a big breakfast with slow burning carbs...i love brown rice, so i steamed a bunch, divided it up and i heat it with eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast. the first morning was an experiment, wasn't sure how well it would work. but it was a long while before i could have lunch, and yet i did just fine!! also have gftjuice with it...drinking unsweetened juice is easier than eating the fruit i think. so i've been doing i think pretty well; we'll see how the weigh-in goes. shaleen, i can't remember if you said it was your father or father-in- law who was being so critical of your weight, but frankly, i'd turn a deaf ear to him (and anyone else who does that)...because with people like that, it's not really about you!! it's just them needing to feel superior, so they figure out what buttons to push to make someone feel inferior. i think you joined ww too, so when you hit your goal, the next time they make a crack about you, show them the ww guide to wieght and height, and tell them to buzz off. sara, it is so sweet of you to offer to " work out with me! " I'm doing the GET MOVING MIX for this week @8am this week because it's my late week and i don't go in until later. next week, i'll be working out primarily in the evening because it will be my early week, unless i'm feeling energized enough to get up earlier (i may try that). work for you? darcy, how is your little man doing these days? out of the woods? nancy and laura, i always love your posts. nancy, hope things have turned around for you and hubby. have a great week! kat from texas
