Guest guest
Hi Judi, Gluten is simply the protein portion of wheat, barley, rye and oats. What is not so simple is how it can cause an immune reaction that leads to chronic inflammation and malabsorption of nutrients. In fact, it can be the basis of all the symptoms you mentioned. A doctor will tell you each is an individual disease state, but chronic immune reactions can lead to lupus and Sjogrens while Reynauds can result from nutritional deficiencies. Your doctor will NEVER consider dietary cause for your problems unless you have major gastrointestinal distress - even then they usually attribute it to psychosomatic issues. Much of the research is so new, it hasn't had the 30 years or so it needs to diffuse through the medical system. Take a look at the symptoms on our website. http://glutenfreeworks.com/gluten-disorders/celiac-disease/symptom-guide/ If you see a number match your own, pursue gluten as a possible trigger.
