Guest guest
I'm now 15 days post op and feeling better every day. I'm going back to work on January 3, thank goodness. My question is for anyone else who has had an adrenalectomy. I struggled with mild HTN and low K for 10 years. About a week after the surgery my nephrologist cut down my K dose from 100 meq to 50 meq daily and said she wanted to leave the Spiro and Spiro/HCTZ dose (75mg daily and 25/25 daily) alone for now. Today (12/30) after 1 week on 50 meq K my potassium is down to 3.8 from 4.4 on 12/23 (still on 100 meq). My night trips to the bathroom are down to no more than one, which is awesome. I haven't had any palpitations, muscle cramps or muscle fatigue since the surgery. All that is, of course, encouraging. I keep telling myself that my body was out of whack for at least 10 years and it will probably take a while for my system to adjust....but I'm still discouraged with my potassium level and still being on the meds. I will tell you that before the surgery, on my 100 meq/day, my average K level was 3.6-4.0 at the most. Also, my blood pressure is great, running around 110/75. Can anyone who has been through an adrenalectomy give me input on this? I know everyone is different but it would be nice to have some idea of how others did after surgery. Thanks so much!
