Yeah, I definitely know that now :-/ I had something that was almost diarrhea soon after I wrote that, only it was more like water with very little of any fecal matter in it. Trying to kick it off with ginger and garlic. Chris

Guest guest
Hey, what an excellent opportunity to test the theory that probiotic foods will help guard against food poisoning. What you need to do is find a SAD dieter and get him to eat the amount of stock you ate and see if one or both of you get sick. Let us know how it works out! --- In , Lynn Siprelle <lynn@s...> wrote: > > Think it went bad? > > Yep. > > Lynn S. > > ----- > Lynn Siprelle * Writer, Mother, Programmer, Fiber Artisan > The New Homemaker: http://www.newhomemaker.com/ > Siprelle & Associates: http://www.siprelle.com/ > People-Powered ! http://www.deanforamerica.com/

That *would* be a good idea, except I have recurrent gut problems that I attribute to my root canals. I've been putting off fixing them for financial reasons, but I can get my insurance to cover pulling them; I might just have to put off getting bridges till next year (I'll exceed my yearly limit with all the work). I'm making an appt tomorrow for it. I need Primal Defense just to keep nothing whatsoever from giving me an infection. When I run out of it, my stools get gradually looser until I have diarrhea or semi-diarrhea; when I start taking it, it goes away in a couple days. Wouldn't it be great if I get my root canals out and this problem just goes away. Well, we'll see. Does sound like a good experiment though. Not sure how many SADers would volunteer though :-) Chris

None of my immediate family (used to taking probiotics etc) got terribly ill but my parents got the runs pretty bad. I felt worse about that than I did about getting food poisoning myself. I'm much more careful now. Some people here say bone broth will last a long time in the fridge but in my experience that's not so. It's wierd because meat seems to last for me way longer than people say it does, and milk basically never goes bad. It seems with the exception of milk things that are liquid go bad much faster or have a much greater chance of going bad than non-liquids. I'm fine now. That was actually the second time I gave myself food poisoning over the weekend. The first time was some seaweed tea which I made one night, then kept it in the fridge. It was good the next day. The day after that I had a little left and it tasted really wierd but I drank it anyway. I'm such an idiot. So I kicked that in a day and then got sick from the stock, which was absolutely delicious the first of it I had, and got progressively worse-tasting each day until the last cup tasted burnt and made my tummy rumble... and I kept drinking it anyway. *sigh* I'll catch on sooner or later :-P Chris

I'm sure this is not new to anyone here but just thought I'd mention it as I never even thought to keep it in the fridge (no room). I don't even bother defrosting, just throw it in the pot frozen, then add boiling water. Filippa
