Subject: Manufacturer of Natural Fragrance Ol - Plumeria

Aloha Everyone,

I am trying to find a manufacturer who creates fragrance oils from natural

botanicals, resins, essential oils, etc. in the United States. I have found a

company in Orange, California, Natures Flavors, who create these kind of

fragrance oils and flavor oils, and some of them are wonderful. However, I am

looking for a sweet plumeria scent made with natural ingredients and theirs does

not smell anything like a plumeria. Is anyone familiar with another company that

creates these type of fragrance oils? This scent would be used in bath and body

products. Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

Hi Christie,

Well, the reason it doesn't smell like plumeria is that it probably isn't. I'm

not saying it's necessarily synthetic, but it may be a " doppelganger " composed

of other essences. It's way too cheap to be ther real deal. White Lotus

Aromatics has the absolute - it is referred to as Frangipani. I have not tried

this one but is a stickler for quality, so I bet it's good. It's

also very expensive wherever you get it, and may not make sense to use in bath

and body products, pricewise. Also, the absolute is usually of a waxy

consistency like the one that I have.

Cheers!

Hi Patty

I agree with you Patty but then how can you make a monoi natural fragrance other

than frangipani absolute that is VERY expensive ?

Maybe by tincturing the flower ?

Hi Patty,

Thanks for your input.  I am committed to using natural fragrances in our

products, but the frangipani ab is way too expensive to use in our products.

There are a few high end bath and body companies that use " natural " fragrances

that mimick the real thing.  The company I spoke of does a great job with some

of their natural fragrances, but I am not a fan of their plumeria, so my goal is

to find a manufacturer who creates " natural " fragrances.  There are a few

around but none of them have a good plumeria:(

Thanks!

Hi ,

I could be wrong about this, but I believe that monoi is generally made by

infusing gardenia blooms (not plumeria) in coconut oil - kind of an enfleurage

technique.

Hi Christie

I think you have come to the right place.

Unfortunately Natures Flavors fragrance oils are a far cry from natural. Some

listed FO are: Narcissus, Peach, Lilac, Banana, honeysuckle, morning glory..ect,

and hard to duplicate with cheap botanical ingredients. Not that you can't make

" something " that may smell like the above (with exception of banana!), with

resins, essential oils and absolute, but it would not be for $3.50 per oz.

You could call them and ask what ingredients thay use but I suspect it is a

" proprietary blend " .

Now is a good time to determine what you consider " natural " because it is all

over the board in the skin care business.

Good luck!

Originally, yes. There are other scents available as well;Plumeria is one of

them,as is sandalwood, jasmine(pikake),vanilla, and I believe tuberose too In the

Pacific, coconut oil was infused with Tahitian gardenia flowers. Now, however,

I believe they are scented with primarily synthetic fragrance oils.
