That white mold on my kvass..

I'm sure this has been asked, but god help me I can't bring myself to

wade through the archives of this mega-list!

I made kvass. Yummy, but what is that white mold on top and is it ok

mold? Perhaps I should have asked first and drunk later, but I didn't.

Now I suppose my question is just curiosity, given that I'm still alive.

And that mold is on the top of some fermented cucumber I made as well.

But it didn't grow on the cabbage or all the other things I fermented

when that fermenting mania hit me after I got my hands on raw milk and

whey.

My first batch had that white mold and I threw it out before someone told me it

is harmless and can just be skimmed or scraped off. My next batches never

had it.

Good luck!
