Guest guest Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 Hi, I didn't get a chance to post my exercise yesterday - I was at an all day event for work. UGH! Yesterday I did Kries' Method Precision Toning 15 minute "mini" workout (mostly ab focused), then I did Method Precision Sculpting - which is mostly a Pilates-upper body workout - although lower body and abs are worked as well. For upper body she uses the "classical" Pilates upper body series, for lower she does bridges and some ballet exercises. Total body/core is worked w/ planks and push-ups. Overall it was a nice session. Today, I did Charlene Prickett's Low Impact/High Intensity. It went very well - my back didn't have a single complaint so it is nice to now have another option besides , the TM, and the bike. I hope to be able to keep adding options as time goes on. Charlene does manage to get a good intensity level going while keeping the workout low impact. this one is filmed outdoors, so it is extra nice. She also throws in some "toning" moves like lunges and squats, which went fine for me today (although I may be sore tomorrow - I haven't done lunges/squats in almost 2 months - and although these were all unweighted, I can feel my muscles have worked differently). After Charlene, I tried a library borrow Rael Pilates System 17 - there are three in this series, System 7 (demos 7 Pilates exercises), 17 (17 exercises), and 27 (27 exercises). Rael Isacowitz (Sp?) leads these. he leads Mari Winsor style, in that he doesn't do the workout but walks around the class (I believe 3 women, if I'm recalling correctly, who do the workout on a raised platform). The exercises are all "classical" Pilates - although most in the "17" DVD are demonstrated in modified form - although an insert of Rael doing the exercise in full form is also shown so you can grow with this one and do the full version of the exercise once you master the modifications. I found that he does more reps than in many of the other Pilates workouts I have - and that is nice - form instruction is also good in this one. I borrowed "System 27" as well, and will do that on a day when I have more time for Pilates. "17" was probably around 30 minutes, "27" is closer to an hour. I can see getting this set - I think Deep Discount has it - and their sale is coming soon - although it is easy enough to borrow it from the library - they have multiple copies and mostly are not checked out. Rael is an older gentleman and has an accent which is somewhat charming (sounds to be Eastern European). Okay -for my no-buying supporters - Please help! Borders is having a 3 for 2 sale. I promised not to buy anything in October - so help me to resist!!! I wish this sale was about a week or two later, when I am anticipating having some b'day money or gift cards. Grr! Guest guest Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 good thing i checked in today! donna NO!!!LOL hold out we are almost there!!! i am really pushing hard to not buy and its showing a bit. i still managed to get most of the bills paid and still have some money in the bank. dh is trying too. not going out to eat as much,cutting back on luxury things at the store(like sushi rolls), learning to love store brand! LOL. actually i did buy 2 magazines the other day b/c i had SO much laundry to do that i need to be occupied while waiting at the laundry mat. but i read it and not just the fitness stuff. shape actually had something on women changing the world and there was a piece with a woman and her family and how they teach autistic kids to surf(isn't that cool!) anyway that has been it. try trading again but no offers so i am just going to play around more with what i have but i am really making an effort to do magazine workouts. after campout this week i haven't done a whole lot. some pilates,cardio, this morning did best body circuit the express premix. i have been on and off sick so i haven't check messages in a few days. some days i feel okay then the next i have this dull headache and nausea. some have said its something going around but for me its been coming and going so i never know from one day to the next how i will feel. right now i feel BLECK! keeps me from overeating though LOL. check in again in a few days. still on no mail so i am not getting messages. kassia Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
