Guest guest
Listmates, An article on page 17 of the July 21st issue of The New Scientist is titled "Vaccines breed deadly new viruses". The article says that chicken farmers in Australia were using two live vaccines to combat a poultry disease (infectious laryngotracheitis) when they began using a third vaccine from Europe and found that it gave rise to a deadly new disease similar to the one they were trying to control. The new disease is wilder and deadlier than what they were trying to control. One wonders if this might transfer to humans in much the same manner as Aids, Mad cow disease or Asian bird flu have. The article ends saying that other "unexplained disease outbreaks may have a similar cause". Herb Freeman D.C.
