'scientific substantiation' of naturalness...

Hi Everyone!

I'm a newbie from South Africa, this is my first post:)

I don't know if anyone can help, or point me in the right direction ...

I am in the process of trying to start a small natural perfumery in South Africa

- nothing too ambitious. In SA perfume labeling and safety requirements are

modeled after the EU. I have been advised that I have to provide 'scientific

substantiation' that my perfumes are natural, and the CTFA who are the advisory

body seem terribly suspicious of me.

I suspect that I am the first natural perfumer they have ever come across. They

keep telling me that it is unlikely that my perfumes are natural, and I have

explained to the point where they seem semi-convinced...

The problem is I have NO idea how one proves that something is natural. They

want proof for everything - carrier oils, beeswax etc, not just essentials and

absolutes. I use baobab oil in my solid perfumes and the oil company sent me a

chemical breakdown and a certificate to prove it was organic but the CTFA says

that does not prove it is natural!!

I have no idea what to do - sorry for the long post. I hope someone can offer

some words of wisdom!

Regards,
