>What's wrong with maltodextrin?

Isomaltase is required to digest maltodextrin, but even the healthiest

human digestive tract produces extremely minimal quantities, such that even

a tiny amount of maltodextrin will swamp the body's isomaltase production

capacity. In fact, maltodextrin is touted as a very low calorie sweetener

for this very reason. The problem is that whatever the body doesn't digest

causes problems for it, in this case by fertilizing undesirable

bacteria. It can cause diarrhea, gas, cramping, bloating, and all kinds of

more serious problems.

It is considered a sign of anemia, but I'm not anemic. I like to crunch on

anything.

I think it's because my ancestors crunched bones. Now if I was

braver I'd start crunching raw bones, but my office mates

might have a problem with that :--)

In my kids case it's a sign that we just got a refrigerator with an ice

crusher/dispenser. They get cups of ice and eat them all over the house. The

2yo and 3yo just spill it all over the kitchen floor everyday. :)

I use to crunch ice. Always heard that it was a sign of something you

are not getting in your diet that caused a person to crunch ice.

Never did follow up on it though...

I've heard it is a major pointer for some hoeopathic constitutional remedy.

Not sure which though. Will investigate for you.

Yes, Coffea is one, but the whole picture of coffea would also have to

match. Still, you're right, those unusual things can be major pointers.
