Dear colleagues, When the OCA asked that you step up and be present at the CCO meetings around the state given by the Oregon Health Authority and voice your opinions that the CCOs must not discriminate against chiropractic physicians you came through for the profession! When the OCA asked that you email your public comments into the Oregon Health Policy Board yet again voicing your opinion that CCOs must not be allowed to discriminate against chiropractic physicians you came through for the profession yet again. In fact there were over 250+ emails 10xs the amount posted on any other issue!! This combined with your only trade organization lobbying for non-discrimination last session resulted in a landmark law (Senate Bill 1580 & 1509) that the entire nation is applauding www.dynamicchiropractic.com None of which would have been possible without you wonderful colleagues stepping up and now we need your help once more. Very soon and I will alert you, a public comment period will come up which the profession will need you to email your comments in support of some key administrative rule language and we will once again want your patients, friends and family members to do the same. I won’t go into detail now as per the OARs but will tell you the key written and oral input I gave for the chiropractic profession as a member (I was appointed) of the “CCO Administrative Rules Advisory Committee” the key issues the profession will need your comments on are 1. Having an adequate number of chiropractic physicians within the CCOs network we do not want the CCOs getting away with token numbers of DCs within the networks. 2. That different rates of reimbursement cannot be determined solely on licensure or discipline but rather only on the performance and quality of the services that health care provider gives or outcomes. Lastly, that we are not pigeon holed into only being included as musculoskeletal docs but rather some of us can be included as primary care physicians for those in the profession who choose to…. Stay tuned I know you will all step up again when needed, Cheers, Vern Saboe DC
