Guest guest
Asheley, maybe some of this will help. These are NCV Range numbers for 'Normal' range Readings taken from my last NCV. Ask your doc to give you a copy of the findings - it should look something like this - besides showing 'normal' range, it should show what the conductions actually are. My last NCV was lower extremities only including gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, abductors, hamstrings, ilio-psoas, quadriceps, tibalis anterir, peronei, extensor hallucis longus, tibalis posterior, extensor digitorum brevis, abductor hallusis and medial and lateral gastroc. Right Median Nerve Motor distal latency (4.6 msec or less) mine was 3.7 msec Conduction velocity (49.0 M/sec or more) mine was 59.2 M/sec Sensory Distal latency (3.7 msec of less) mine was 3.3 Right Ulnar Nerve Motor distal latency (4.0 msec or less) mine was 3.1 msec Conduction velocity (49.0 M/sec or more) mine was 65.0 M/sec Sensory distal latency (3.5 msec or less) mine was 2.4 msec Right Peroneal Nerve Motor distal latency (7.0 msec or less) mine was 4.8 msec Conduction velocity (441.0 M/sec or more) mine was 61.2 M/sec Right Sural Nerve Sensory distal latency ( 4.2 msec or less) mine was 3.6 msec My Electrodiagnostic Report also has a written section by the examining doctor regarding the type of needle used, noting normal irritability, with no fibrillatins or positive sharp waves... and on to say 'more proximally, motor units were entirely normal in frequency, amplitude, configuration and duration and there were no fasciculations or abnormal discharges. Following that, the examining doctor wrote a short narrative under 'Comment' where he said the 'patient clearly does not have a demyelinating or more common form of CMT in which slowed conduction and frequently absent sensory potentials are observed. Moreover, the patient did not show atrophy of the feet and hands as seen in CMT. And bla bla bla. But you get the idea. You should be able to at least to understand what the examining doctor wrote in the NCV report 'Comment' section. If you don't have this, get it. And ask all the questions to your doc that you need to. ~ Gretchen
