I got my new SMO (Supramalleolar Orthosis) today

I was expecting the worst. I really didn't want a brace. But because

I want surgery even less, I opted for the brace. I love it!! Its

small and light, but I can't roll my foot in it! The plastic is very

thin and translucent. Its an orthotic and brace combined, with hinges

on the side so that I can flex my foot up and down. Evidently this

design doesn't lead to muscle atrophy. Seems like a very good option

for people like me who's feet are starting to roll, but who don't have

significant foot drop. Geez, now I'm wondering if I should get one

for my other foot!
