My ex husband also had a very good idea for a car alarm, and it worked very well on some car thieves. He took about 5ft of 2x4 lumber, and drove 9 " nails through it. Put it on the front seat of the car, with an old blanket thrown over it. Those thieves made a very nice car alarm. They were heard for many blocks. They were immediatly caught, and boy were they red (But not in the face)

It would not work to use my car alarm as a house alarm because about a year or 2 ago my car alarm kept going off for no reason at any time of the day or night so everyone became inured to it and used to ignoring it so they would not even pay the least amount of attention to it.
