Guest guest
I recently went to see a doctor who has CMT here locally. I used to go to him 10-15 years ago, but hadn't gone again until recently as my CMT suddenly worsened. I asked him what he thought of all the Vit C stuff, and he seemed like he hadn't even heard of it. He said that any powerful anti-oxidant would give the same benefit. Then he sent me on my way to get some of the multi vitamins he personally takes, a supplement called K-Rala (alpha lipoic acid), and Metanx (perscription vit . Both the multi vit and the Metanx are loaded with Vit B6. What exactly is it that B6 does that makes it bad for CMT people? He also wanted me to see an 'energy worker' and give accupunture a try. Anyone have any experience with either one? I am willing to try accupuncture.
Guest guest
Hi , Don't let your doctor discourage you from using vitamin C. My doctor didn't believe that CMT was do anything for my CMT. Even tho, I could move toes that had been paralyzed for years. Even tho, I could feel the ground when I was standing. Even tho, I seemed to have more hand strength. After talking to my doctor I was so discouraged I almost quit trying Vitamin C. I felt awful until a few wonderful members gave me a dose of reality. I was feeling better because of the Vitamin C. The Vitamin C was helping me, I hadn't imagined any of it. The next time I went to my doctor he couldn't deny that I was stronger. He did another hand strength test on me and I WAS STRONGER! Aww now he asks me for the vitamin C information. It is hard for doctors to imagine that a vitamin can do anything much. Their line of work keeps them skeptical and that is okay, they need to stay grounded until they have proof that something really works. Now my doctor has proof!
