My husband Jim kept putting off getting braces and regrets it. His doctor

would suggest getting them, but he thought since he could get along well

enough, especially after he got inserts for his shoes, it would be a mistake.

His ankles and feet got a lot more deformed from being in the wrong position,

and the braces are more uncomfortable. His plastic ones had to adjusted so

many times, and they always rubbed. The second orthotist gave him the

old-fashioned metal ones, and they are actually more comfortable.

The last time we were in Maine I went to the New Balance Outlet store. There's

one in Oxford and another one somewhere else I can't find by Googling. There

may also be one near Boston [from Googling]. Jim still wears those shoes when

he doesn't wear his braces. If you go to the store, you can try them on.
