Guest guest
Hi Jen, Yes, I have this problem as well, even if I'm not the driver. My husband doesn't really understand that but he has accepted that that is the way it is. Traveling of any sort is very fatiguing for me. Guest guest
Hello to all: Even a 45 minute drive, as driver wipes me out the rest of the day. Take care
Guest guest
I'm good on long drives, especially when I'm driving... a good thing considering I go to school an hour and a half away from my house! Liz
Guest guest
I understand that a common response to motion sickness is a feeling of fatigue that takes over for about two days. So many times there is another possible explanation to what we feel, not just CMT! For me personally I am never sure what causes what but 9 out of 10 times I think it is best for me not to blame everything on CMT. Guest guest
Hello Jen, You really have to shop around various cars to find one that is comfortable for long drives. I used to do this by renting different ones on business trips and settled on 1995 Taurus and earlier. The seats changed in 1996. Now my 2006 Toyota Prius is far better than any other car I ever owned and I'm 6'6 " tall. EdM from NH
Guest guest
, Yes, I do. I thought it was just because I am nearly sixty. Phew! At least I know I am not going quietly crazy. iTt is getting harder, though, to cope with fatigue. Sama
Guest guest
Anything long takes me days to recover from. Long car ride, Long shopping trip, long walk, long shower, long time sitting. Long talks on the phone hurt my neck. I could go on and on.

Guest guest
Hi Donna in London, I think long drives bother some of us because our circulation is bad enough without sitting down in a car. It may take more work the next day or so for our hearts to pump all the extra fluid out of our legs from the swelling.
Guest guest
I don't know about that. My legs have never swelled from car or plane travel yet I am thoroughly fatigued when driving or riding in a car, even for relatively short distances (60 miles). My physiatrist once had me wear a neck support when riding in a car -- she said that my body fatigued from the muscles trying to maintain my equilibrium or balance as the car moves over changes in the road, etc.
Guest guest
Thanks for the gentle reminder that a lot of people have circulation issues that may make sitting for long periods of time unbearable. My point was that I get motion impacted fatigue, not so much about how my legs feel, although this happens to me too. If long drives make you ache and your legs are tired and fatigue sets in, I would suggest just what the airlines do - a stretch break every hour or so (combined with lots of water not soft drinks at rest stop which cause dehydration and make the circulation issue worse). I also like the advice about renting cars to find a seat model that will not cut in your legs and therefore makes the journey more comfortable. I fly a lot for my job so I follow the advice on planes, trains and automobiles - it works for me even with a motion triggered response of fatigue. For example, I prefer BA business class seats for flying so only try to book those even when offered first class on BA - the seat and circulation matters for making me feel comfortable, CMT or not. If I could have a penny for each time I wondered if something was caused by CMT or not, I would be rich! I find for me personally the best approach is to understand what causes the feeling and then to look for a way to correct it. This is true for anything, not just CMT. Best wishes from a cold New York where I am for the weekend, Donna from London
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Listening to all of you, I'm scared to death now about going to ville Beach to see my daughter for Thanksgiving. It's literallly the whole state of Florida from the keys to the top, I think it takes about 8 hrs for me, I didn't drive fast. I'm not driving, but it's a Mustang Convertible and there is no back seat and I'm 6'2 " . Taking a feather pillow for my butt and last time I didn't have a herniated disk. I would have flown but can't afford it. Oh well. I was remembering even when I drive for a little while, my feet are numb enough as it is and when in the same position, you guys know what I mean. Wish me luck. I'm still here until the 20th.
Guest guest
Hi , I am sure you will be fine on your drive. Our long distance trips are like 12 - 16 hours. As long as I actually get out and walk every time we get gas I do okay. I am sore and weak by the time we get there but not dead. Guest guest
Thanks , I just needed to hear something uplifting. Now, get this, I made some doctors appts. for the 16th and 17th before I go. But the only one I'm afraid of is the one for an hour and a half to the head doctor. My first time, but the time has come. I kind of wanted to go AFTER I see my daughter for Thanksgiving, but there is a waiting list to get in. After she heard my story they got me in next week. Imagine that. Crazy am I?? I'll let you know how it goes. I just don't want to get down before I leave, but then again, maybe I'll get some uplifting info. Thanks,
