Guest guest
Hi everyone: I was at my orthopedic surgeon today as a follow up on my latest ankle fusion. I told him I am experiencing a burning pain/sweling in the ankle by the end of the day. He immediately said that it has to be neuro pain from the CMT and prescribed Neurontin. But, I don't have that kind of pain in the rest of my body and didn't have that sort in the ankle prior to all the surgeries (fusions). I do have pain throughout my body but it feels more like bone/tired muscle pain. I especially experience this pain at night to the point that I can't lay in one position for very long before my body starts to ache. So, I'm wondering if the Neurontin is the right med for me. I have been reading about Neurontin here and on other chats and am scared to death of the side effects. I've got enough problems without adding things like more dizziness and memory loss. I'm wondering if I should see a different doctor for this. I haven't seen a neurologist in at least 15 years for a work up. I go to the MDA clinic sometimes for an annual visit, but they don't really do any testing, just talk and then send me on my way. I guess my question is does anyone else have this sort of pain, is it CMT related or possibly something else? Thanks for your input.
