My Christmas Workout

Today I wanted to do a nice long tough workout because of not having to be anywhere but at home. But instead I only got an hour in, but I suppose that is better then nothing, right. I've been having bad asthma attacks today for some reason. I've had like 3 of them. I normally don't have more then one every couple of weeks, so after the first one, I took a breathing treatment and thought I was good to go. Then I got on my Bosu for my workout. I did squats on the Bosu (3 sets of 10 reps with 30 pounds) and started to cough a little. So I decided to take longer rest breaks between sets to catch my breath. I then did Bosu clock lunges (2 sets of 14 reps because of doing 6 and 12 twice also with 30 pounds) doing one set in each direction. I thought I was going to die. I took my inhaler and felt better, so back into the gym I went. I did Bosu Plie Squats (2 sets, 10 reps, 30 pounds) then Bosu Deadlifts (2 sets, 10 reps, 30 pounds) and felt my chest getting tight again, but not a full blown attack. I decided that I didn't want to have another attack so I'd take my intensity down and do something else. Those 4 exercises took 30 minutes because of the asthma breaks and was only in my zone for 11 minutes. (Avg. HR 112, 95 calories, 50% fat) So then I put in Winsor Pilates Bun & Thigh Sculpting. I've had this since I ordered the set from an infomercial in 2002, but hadn't done it before. I guess I had just stuck with the Basics then moved on to the 20 minute and then the Accelerated and never did the Abs or this one. Anyway, it was a good butt workout. You spend 10 minutes on one side and then flip over and do 10 minutes on the other side. I think I would have preferred to mix it up a little more, but maybe not doing it the way I would have taught it was good for me because I'm feeling my butt cheeks right now in a way I normally don't feel them after my workouts. For this one, I was only in my zone 3 1/2 minutes of the 20 minute workout, but that is good because that meant no asthma. (Avg. HR 102, 50 calories, 56% fat) I felt so much better after this one that I decided to do a little more, so I stuck in 10 Minute Solutions Pilates and did the Pilates for Buns and Thighs on it too. Much easier then the Winsor, but still a good finisher for me. I was never in my target heart rate range, but it helped to slowly bring my HR down so that is good. (Avg. HR 97, 16 calories, 56% fat)

I felt fine afterwards, but then I was just sitting here and had another asthma attack. I bet I'm coming down with the bug my DD has that has caused her to have strep and tonsilitis. I can't think of anything else that would cause me to have this much of a problem with my asthma today. Time to get the vitamins out and double dose to make sure I don't get sick.Tonya L. -www.smellabella.comwww.trainingwithtonya.com
