Guest guest
Hi Sally, I have worn support hose since my symptoms started ( knee highs ). I have ataxia, it's like CMT. I have known other wheelchair users who wear them also. It helps circulation, befor I started wearing them, my ankles would swell. Now I wear them 24/7. Not all people require them, the swelling ankles, and cold feet, should prompt some action. People used to just ignord it, in other diseases also. It usually gets worse and requires major attention. Guest guest
I was able to get them on myself after that time but it was very slow and not easy. I had to wear them for 6 weeks. I hated them. KeimSee AOL's top rated recipes and easy ways to stay in shape for winter.
Guest guest
Yes. I had to wear them after a coronary bypass surgery. They go on and off like nylon stockings. Being male I had to look this up on the web but I learned how to do it myself. If you can get hosiery on and off you can do this. Compression stockings I would like to hear from others about compression stockings. I believe that I will have to wear them from 6-8 weeks. My daughter will be home for 2 of those weeks but after that I am on my own. Were you able to get them on yourself? My surgery is Jan 4. Guest guest
First, what are you having done hip or knee? I had a THR and there is no way I could have gotten those stockings on myself for the first week after surgery..(My husband took such good care of me and was the master at getting those darn things on!) My surgeon said that I only had to wear the stockings until I was walking a mile consistently. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe I wore them for about a week or so because walking was my therapy and I was walking atleast a mile daily starting about the 4th day post-op. Getting rid of those stockings was a huge incentive to keep up my therapy regimen. Plus I had my surgery in August, so putting on stockings in the summer heat was not fun! Good Luck!daiseyyy4 <daiseyyy4@...> wrote: I would like to hear from others about compression stockings. I believe that I will have to wear them from 6-8 weeks. Guest guest
I'm having my left hip replaceed. You were walking a mile after 4 days? You just made my day. I like to swim. Does anyone know how soon that is allowed?
