Johanna,

I like you loved the Red Mandarin then I ordered samples of the green and

yellow. My new favorite is Yellow Mandarin. It to me is a bit more floral

citrus and is very

flirty and yet naughty.

There has been quite a bit of confusion around mandarin oil and tangerine as it

can be tricky to know exactly what you've got. Several countries in South

America produce both and they can get blended and/or mislabelled. A French

company that has imported drum quantities found the oils to be inconsistant. It

seems that if there is more demand for tangerine or firmer prices then mandarin

gets blended or labelled as such and vice versa.

I buy all our mandarin from Sicilly where they do not grow any tangerines so I

can be confident that it is what it says on tin.

The mandarins are harvested three times at various degrees of ripeness to

produce green, yellow or red mandarin oil. My personal favourite is green but it

is oh so delicate and flys away to citrus smell heaven very quickly. It blends

well with bergamot and I use yellow grapefruit and a very tiny bit of lime as a

citrus structure to hang it on.

Best Wishes,

Alec
