Guest guest
Judith, I feel it's better 'in house'. Patients complain when it's outsourced if they have questions that aren't getting answered or when they file a complaint that they think a certain service wasn't done even tho they see it on the bill. The outsourced billing staff have no idea of anything other than the 'reported' billings. They can't answer questions about any services. This makes the patiend jump an extra hoop to coordinate answers. It may piss them off. I've also seen complaints generated simply because of this set up where the DC isn't necessarily aware of the patient's discontent because they may have made 5 calls to the 'outsourced billing' and by the time they finally call you they're ready to explode. Pay scales are variable and depend on what services the billing manager provides. I've seen $15/hour to $45/hour. I prefer hiring someone who is in the office 3-4 days a week and does general office as well as billing. If you're approached by someone charging the higher rate, please check with the list and see if the person has worked for any others. I had a horrible experience with someone and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, no wait, maybe I would..... Minga Guerrero DC abowoman@... In-house billing Good morning Doctors: Just curious what the going rate of pay is for having your employee do your billing in-house instead of outsourcing it. Do you pay hourly and what is the rate, do you provide them a percent of what is collected? Are the devoted to just doing the billing or do they do other jobs as well? Just wondering what folks are finding - is it better to bring the billing in house or outsource it? THANKS, Judith Judith E.
