Yes continue to do what you are doing and DASH.CE Grim MDI had labs done three days ago. Waiting on most of the results I got my BUN and it is now 33 (was 27 on Nov 2). When I looked on line for possible reasons, one of the drugs that could drive it up is spiro. My spiro increased from 50 in Sept to 100 in mid Oct. My bp is holding at 130/78 since the increase. My blood creatnine is holding at 1.5 from Nov 2. I will have the rest of my labs by Monday which have the urine tests Is there anything I can do to bring down my BUN number Thank you Pam

I have been thinking of this, it seems that spiro attacks a lot the kidney.

if Dr grimm reads this, what do you do with a patient that has PA, he is not

suitable for surgery, you have him on spiro and the patient starts showing signs

of renal failure.

how do you work with this patient?? ( lets say you can't use eprenelone )

thx

I was the original poster on this queston.

1.  I read an article online saying that takng spiro can cause BUN to increase.

2.  Here are my orignal creatinine for the last year.  Up until 6/24 I was taking triameterne HCTZ and my numbers increased as well as my blood pressure on it.  When I came off , my creanties started to decrease but according to my nephrologist I have gone from a stage 4 to stage 3 kidney disease.

12/29/2010 1.46  on scale of 0.57- 1.0

12/13/2010  1.5 on scale of 0.6  1,2*  all below that a not marked are on this scale

11/2/2010 1.5

10/6/2010  1.8

9/3/2010  1,44 on scale of 0.57 -1.0

 9/2/2010 1.4

7/30/2010  1.6

7/6/2010  1.7

6/17/2010  1,99 on scale on 0.57 - 1.0

 6/15/2010 2.5

422/2010  1.7 on scale on 0.57 - 1.0

4/7/2010 2.2

  3/9/2010   1.8

My bun dropped into normal limits on Dec 29 when i gave up al proteins for 48 hours to 21 (scale of 5.0 - 26) from 33 on Dec 15 (scale of 6.0 - 20.0)  the rest of the time it was basically from a high of 33 to a low of 21 this year.

However when the bun/creatnine ratio is done, my numbers also come in normal, yet I am told its only temporary, prepare myself for diaylsis or a kidney transplant.

Pam

1. Get all previous plasma cretinines and plot 1/cr

2. In general when BP DROPS IT takes some time for the kidneys to heal from the previous HTN damage. Spiro does not damage the kidneys. Where did u get that idea?

If only one side has tumor they can remove gland. Other wise it is a life time

problem.

they did not see any tumor on my ct-scan reading.the other endocrinologist told me that maybe i have a nodule, that's why he ask me if i want to undergo AVS.based from my readings, doing AVS is not so easy.i am afraid to do it.BTW,ct-scan cannot find nodule?is it true?he also add up MRI.ids MRI helpful?bec. he said the cuttings of CT-scan is not good,so MRI is fine.My parents are complaining already about all the lab. test i undergo before bec. it is expensive.from abbie.Subject: Re: 56 yo woman with high BUNTo: hyperaldosteronism Date:

Please work on DASH and spiro to get your BP and other problems under control. I would avoid AVS until you have clearly failed this route. Have your Dr measure the Na, K and creatinine in a sample of your urine. You have not gotten to DASHing well until the K in your urine is higher than the Na. in mEq/LAsk them to do that as soon as you can and then send the results to us.In the US AVS can cost $18000 US. You need to find out how much it might cost down there.CE Grim MDthey did not see any tumor on my ct-scan reading.the other endocrinologist told me that maybe i have a nodule, that's why he ask me if i want to undergo AVS.based from my readings, doing AVS is not so easy.i am afraid to do it.BTW,ct-scan cannot find nodule?is it true?he also add up MRI.ids MRI helpful?bec. he said the cuttings of CT-scan is not good,so MRI is fine.My parents are complaining already about all the lab. test i undergo before bec. it is expensive.from abbie.Subject: Re: 56 yo woman with high BUNTo: hyperaldosteronism Date: Wednesday, 12 January, 2011, 6:24 PM If only one side has tumor they can remove gland. My tumor didn't show on a CT for several years. It was 1.7 cm but mostly encased in my adrenal gland.
