Wonderful news Anita - congratulations and see you soon!

Mandi x

a variety of things

Dear listmates,

Some "news" I would like to share:

*I recently had the pleasure of editing a book on biomedical treatments

for autism written by s, a certified nutrition consultant

in the US. It's called "Nourishing Hope: Nutrition Intervention for

Autism Spectrum Disorder". I am biased, of course, but I believe it is

one of the best books to recommend to people starting down this road.

Veterans wouldn't be able to learn a whole lot from it (I am finding

this to be the case with many of the books) but it does a wonderful job

of looking at all ASD diets and giving beginners a game plan to get

started cleaning up diet and lifestyle. also talks about

supplements and other interventions like chelation and even energy

medicine. I received my hard copies a few days ago, and I think she

did a wonderful job. It will be my pleasure to donate one to the TA

library, once I arrive in the UK.

You can read about the book here

http://www.healthfulliving.org/autism/nourishinghope.php

*On the topic of nutrition, here is a recipe for soaked cereal that I

came up with and have tweaked into its final form. I borrowed the

basics from Sally Fallon's recipes, which I found horrible. This

however, tastes great, especially with yogurt and fruit. !

Anita's finally successful breakfast cereal

Combine and soak overnight (mix #1):

2 cups whole wheat flour (or substitute one cup with coconut flour)

1 cup milk

1/3 cup water

5 tbsp whey

Combine and soak overnight (mix #2):

8 cups of rolled oats

½ cup butter, melted

½ cup virgin coconut oil, melted

1.5 cups plain yogurt

2 cups water

Soak and dry any nuts or seeds you wish to add

to the cereal(I use a total of approximately 3 cups of

walnuts, brazil nuts, pecans, and almonds).

Add 1/2 tsp baking soda to mix #1, and then combine mix #1 and #2

into one large bowl. Add to this:

½ cup melted virgin coconut oil

¾ cup maple syrup

1 cup honey, melted

1 tsp salt

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp vanilla

1 cup shredded coconut

Stir well and then smooth onto 2 cookies sheets or 2 pyrex pans.

Instructions if you have a dehydrator: Cook at 225 F for about two

hours. It should look dry, kind of like a really thick cake. Cut into

bars (and slice the bars in half through the middle too) and dry in a

dehydrator. Process in a food process to desired consistency. Chop

the nuts in the food processor. Add to cereal.

Instructions if you don't have a dehydrator: Cook for about one hour

at 225 F. Remove from oven and let cool. Break into pieces and cook

for another 3 or 4 hour at 200 F until dry. Process in a food

processor to desired consistency. Process nuts seperately. Combine.

*DH and I were married last night. The UK wouldn't give me a visa

based on our state of sin, so we planned a wedding in less than 24

hours. It was like a movie, except most like a Coen or Farrelly

brothers movie :-). The emotions were all they should be though. So,

even though we're not even there yet, the UK has started to change my

life. All for the better, I hope :-)

heart in their movies. Farrelly brothers - we'll be checking out your

hair do....

Welcome (almost) to the UK
