Guest guest
Hi Sheree, I recently had the same problem finding benzoin. Ditto with New Directions--same experience. After much searching I found some online at soapgoods.com http://www.soapgoods.com/product_info.php?products_id=268 I found the quality quite good (surprising as I tend to be wary of the quality from soap supply outlets) and was pleased. Best, Charna Ethier ******************************************* I'm glad to see this post come up as I have wondered the same thing on a few occasions now. I had originally purchased a really unpleasant benzoin from a local store and hated it, I never understood the attraction to Benzoin. Later I smelled some beautiful benzoin from EOU, and then it clicked. Theirs is listed as Benzoin Liquid Resin. I am not sure what if anything it is diliuted with, and haven't had any luck finding out on their site. Liberty Natural also carries a nice smelling benzoin liquid resin, It is listed as 50% MPG though. As best as I have been able to tell, the mpg indicatedis propylene glycol, and I do not believe that makes it allowable in natural perfumery. So my quest continues. I have seen Mountain Rose's, but it was out of stock when I last ordered. I see it is back in stock now, darn it. Charna, do you know if the product from soap goods is diluted at all, or how pourable it is? Thanks all,
Guest guest
Hi , The benzoin I purchased has the consistency of thick molasses and does not appear to be diluted with the diluents you described. I have purchased benzoin absolute from Liberty and others (which arrived as amber colored crystal " rocks " ) and I prefer the aroma of benzoin e.o. better. Guest guest
I have been very happy with Mountain Rose products though I have not used their benzoin. Their quality is consistent and their staff helpful. I could not say enough good! -
Guest guest
Hi Sheree, Are you in Australia? Were you referring to New Directions in Australia. I'm a decided newbie and have been getting my supplies from them, so was interested in your comment.

Better to go with SEOC or Auroma! Ambrosia > .___ > http://www.perfumebynature.com.au >
Guest guest
Hi! I'm new to the Natural Perfumery List, though not new to aromatherapy, herbs and natural scenting. I got one of my " synthetic reactions " from either some lavender or rose wax from a supplier I had been using for at least 5 years. There is no sense in arguing. There are alot of people whom think they can slip one in on you. But, my nose always knows. And sometimes, I think the suppliers do not know either, especially with oils that can be tweaked easily or oils that people do not have a lot of experience with. As far as benzoin goes, some of the more esoteric shops may have a benzoin resin that you can dilute with some (carrier) oil or alcohol for your blends. Can't quite remember which, oil or alcohol, it's been a very long time since I've done it. FlowerSoaper
