Guest guest
So I have 3 raw material resins. incense, Myrrh and Dragon's Blood. I have morter & pestle'd the hell out of them and cleaned the vessel with salt (also grinding it to clean it out). With what I have, it is separated into 2 bags, one of the crushed resin, and another of the crushed salt/resin combo of the remains. I would like to tincture this but I wonder: 1. Will I get usable results for fragrances? 2. Can I tincture the salt portion? This is incense grade stuff, and for the amount of effort, unless it yields some phenomenal results, it will not be repeated

Can I tincture the salt portion? > Hi Bradley I can't offer any info about incense and Myrrh tinctures, but I have tinctured Dragon's Blood and found that really its best use in fragrance is (sparingly) to add some rich colour. The Dragon's Blood I have has very little fragrance. The colour is wonderful though. Also - am trying to remember what form I got it in, but I'm pretty sure it was in chunks and needed little in the way of crushing to dissolve in alcohol. I have found this with some other resins as well (e.g. copal negro) - try tincturing it in alcohol without crushing first, because you may find the crushing is unnecessary, I'd love to hear more about how the incense and Myrrh go. Please do post an update. Best wishes Johanna
Guest guest
hi there, of all the resins you mention, i've only tinctured frankincense oman resin and it is so lovely : ) but i didn't grind it down, and it's been 3 months and i'm still letting it sit. it is sticky, but not so much when i filtered a tiny bit to test it. bluebell
