The argument that the nose's ability to grow accustomed to foul odors proves the olfactory sense is inferior is plain silly (who told you that?!). Many people eat something for the first time and want to vomit, but gradually develop a taste for that particular food (oysters, for example). The same can be true for scents. I have grown to appreciate several essences that literally sickened me at first. Choya nakh is one and patchouli is another until I started using them in perfumes.
