Guest guest
Dr. Grim: (Read my notes on Predinose below) Ok, been taking 25 mg spiro from Dr. Kramer but pressure not any better. Average 145/90 only when I take xanax. Xanax quit working for sleep. Theoretically it should increase level of xanax in my body as diltiazem blocks pathway, but it quit working for sleep and I was getting foggier minded. When I turn my head from side to side I get dizzy. I stopped taking xanax and tried ambien I had in my cabinet for sleep. Worked ok, but but pressure became irradict going up to 170/102. This morning my lying down pressure was 120/70 (50's pulse), standing up it was 125/98 (70's pulse). Called Dr. K's office last wednesday for help with bp and another solution to sleep. I also faxed notes about how zantac helps with bloating and exercise capacity and cramps in my calves, called Wed. of last week. Yesterday I received a phone call from his office and was told by his office that I would need to contact the doctor who prescribed diltiazem and also to go back to the doctor who prescribed xanax for sleep. I understand him not wanting to help with sleep, but I thought i was going to him for " difficult to treat hypertension " and he's not helping. It appears his agenda is specifically thyroid so I don't believe my health is going to be none the better for my trips to Charlotte however I am going to my appointment Tuesday of next week. I'm suspecting if he doesn't help that will be my last trip. What I did find out from him is CT scan did not reveal tumor. I believe he believes my aldo 12.6/renin .6 is ok, nothing remarkable, especially with no tumor revealed. Interesting find we I went back through some notes from an Int. Med doc in 07 and I found this: on 9/1, first visit, was prescribed the following: my bp was recorded 122/90 at this visit. Weight 155 lbs. HCTZ 12.5 once daily Aciphex 20 mg only daily Ambien 5 mg Augmentin XR 1000 mg 3 x daily (inflamed sinus membranes) Prednisone 20 mg (10 day taper I believe) On 9/8 visit bp was 124/86 - weight 151 lbs. on 9/11 visit bp was 104/70!!!!!!! 154 lbs. on 9/18 visit bp 114/62 - weight 155 lbs. on 12/8 visit bp 146/104 - weight 157.4 I was still taking hctz and prilosec Now I'm wondering it is possible that I have GRA and the prednisone decreased my bp? Was this a fluke? Is this info worth mentioning to my doctor today or will he think I'm crazy. If GRA suspect, where do I go for testing? Is this a Kramer question? Please help! Charlotte Zahnd aldo/renin - 38/.3 (on estrogen patch) aldo/renin - before saline suppression 2/.9 aldo/renin - 17.9/<.15 (had been on HRT) aldo/renin - 12.6/.6 Current Meds: Meds - 240 mg Diltiazem ER 25 mg spironolacton 1 mg xanax - sleep
