Guest guest
Hi! I have just come across some dried materials I got from a reputable supplier about 2 years ago.. root, organic vanilla powder, red sandalwood powder, musk seeds, tonka powder, aged orris root pieces and opoponax resin (it is extremely dry and hard and I can't remember if this was the state when I received it). I guess I'm wondering if I'm at a loss with my materials,(are they too old now to work with), or can I go ahead and tincture and/or macerate? They've been kept in their original folded-over-and-taped plastic bags.

Check out the materials- Do you see any mold or other growth on the materials? If they were properly dried, hopefully there isn't. How do they smell? They may not be quite as potent as they originally were, but if you still are getting pleasant scents from the herbs, then I wouldn't see why you can't still use them for tincturing. They may require a few more recharges than they would have two years back, but they should still produce some lovely tinctures for you to enjoy.
