The easiest, lowest tech way to scent a room with oils is to put a drop or two

on a tissue (kleenex). It holds its scent for a long time...a day or two

depending on the oil and of course gets less intense with time. I have been

doing it this way in my home for many years. You can either fold up to tissue

or leave it loosely rumpled. Just keep it out of reach so someone doesn't try

to blow their nose with it. :)

If you want to marry your blends you should probably invest in some small

bottles made for e/o's. Many e/o suppliers carry them and I like pilotvials.com

too. For blends you want to 'drop' make sure you get bottles with reducers.

These slow the flow of the oil so you can just put one drop at a time. You may

also want to get some 2 ml sample vials to do a smaller version of a blend until

you know which oils you want to mix in larger amounts. I like to marry my oils

for at least a week, longer is better. You can then use your blends in a

carrier oil, like jojoba if you want to apply some to someone's skin or give

them a little massage.

I know when my friend's son was passing due to cancer, the whole family loved

when their hospice worker gave him a foot rub using lavender oil. Why not use a

blend as a foot massage oil (which this person may have well been doing). My

friend said her son was so relaxed afterward and they all enjoyed the aroma.

You would just add your blend to some carrier/massage oil in a percentage that

works for you. Some like less scent, some like more. I think you mentioned

that you already use lavender in a massage oil?

Peace,

dear ,

if you already have lemon and orange e.o. than you are half the way in making

the natural scent diffuser. I live in Italy and do not know where to buy wood

sticks in USA in so small quantities: maybe you'd better to buy some hawful

chinese-made wood stick diffuser for some dollars, throw away in the rubbish the

entire bottle with that horrible chemical scent inside and keep the wood sticks

to use them in your 100% natural scent diffuser. maybe in USA the foodstuff

shops sell also bottles of 95 or 96% alimentary alcool, which would fit superbly

to mix the oils. blend the oils at your own will, or let the children decide

(you could involve them in making the diffuser, but I do not know if the

hospital will let you work with flammables like alcohol inside the rooms!).

both adults and children will love the blend with the citrus fragrances or the

cocoa. there is no need to diversify.

NOTE: the mix with e.o. and alcohol is pretty volatile and a 200 ml bottle will

end within 4/5 weeks if you turn upside down the wood sticks 2 times a week. you

can slower the diffusion by slowly adding some distilled water, but in this

case you can cause the liquid to turn opaque and maybe some grounds will also

appear on the bottom of the bottle. (well, this will not turn to be a smelling

problem - the quality remain ther same, it is just an image problem!)

hope I was clear

ciao, Dany
