I have never seen a Master Blender in my over 30 years of beeing involved in the

Perfume Industry.

But I have seen very successful Perfumers who made millions of dollars in profit

for the company they worked for. And still work for.

The most successful ones don't bragg and they are not loud. You hardly don't see

them. They work quietly and they are humble.

I am a Perfumer by trade. And I love what I am doing very much. Although it has

been a very hard journey, it was worth the effort. I am still learning new

things every day. I don't have all the wisdom and never will have. But I love to

discover new ways and new accords and i like to learn.

As I see it, as long as somebody blends a pleasant smelling blend together, she

or he did a good job. If they sell it and the product is successful, wonderful.

If they think they are a Master Blender, I don't care. As long as it makes them

happy.

Wow. Did you ever say a  mouthful. you are humble aren't you? I can think of

some who self promote as 'master blenders' and they dont know a hoot about

essential oils, absolutes, resins, methods of extraction etc. I would say after

30 years the experience you have is immeasurable. I love the fact you state that

as long as somebody blends a pleasant smelling blend, she or he did a good job.

Such grace Udo.  I applaud your candor and your very sweet ackknowledgement that

is inclusive of all us. So nice to know such integrity is alive and well. The

way I see it, those who 'can' do....and those who cant...say they do LOL....i

get a sense that this is a great part of who you are and we are blessed to have

you.

Hi Udo, Folks

Let me second that opinion...I would use the term " expert " at least, to

describe you, Udo...

30 years in the trade is going to provide a level of expertise hard to

match anywhere...And an insider's perspective, plus constant hands-on

opportunity...

With something like the essences and perfumery, I do not think it is

*possible* to have all the wisdom, if for no other reason than it

constantly evolves...

Let me second the thanks, for what you share WITH THE GROUP......

The Guild disagrees with with other organizations define as natural

fragrance, and we issued a white paper on it. It can be found on the

Guild website. As far as organic definitions, those vary from country to

country, and even within a country, such as the USA, from state to state.

In the Guild, we have the title Professional Perfumer and that indicates

that they have shown a level of blending expertise and professional

presentation in regards to packaging and promotional materials. That

title is used by the Guild, and it has no legal standing. I don't know

of any organization that uses the term Master Blender or Master

Perfumer, although I'm sure some folks self-designate themselves that way.

When I received the contract proposal from my editor, she had, on the

signature line, designated me " Master Perfumer " . I crossed it out and

told her I don't use that title. I do know some corporations have the

employment title Senior Perfumer, and I'm sure it is tied to seniority.
