May I suggest looking to the past for some acccords. I know what you

mean by having an " amber blend " . I think this is a fun way for a

beginner to try oils out. I think people on the board are hesitant to

give out accords because they don't want the grasshoppers to just use

them and not study with their noses. You want to develop your own

voice ( um... nose) in natural perfumery. It is also essential to be

familiar with the notes top to bottom. Literally! This takes times.

Lots and lots of time. Years. Sigh..... oh, were was I? I suddenly

drifted from my over eager beginnings of dumping tons of oils in the

garbage to learning patience. Anyway! There is a book that Mandy used

in her book from the 1892 book called, The Practical Treatise on the

Manufacture of Perfumery. It has fun historical oddles of info and

chapters of formulas on tinctures, accords, alcohol, extrait, dry and

other cosmetic preperations. Unfortunately they often use Civet or

Musk as a base in the perfumes. There is mention often of veggie musk

ambrette which you can easily buy nowdays and tincture yourself.

I bought a new copy of, " The, " Practical Treatise.. " that may be

listed on google out there as, " digitized from the collections of the

New York Public Library. "

It is a fun book to have in a perfumer's collection as there are few

easily obtained out there it seems. The Holy Grail book of perfumery

of Steffen Arctander's is 320.00 some odd dollars.

If you all have a natural perfume book you recommend that is not too

expensive please let me know.

Also for the vanilla tincturing. I do a maceration of Tahitian and

Madagascar vanilla in frac coconut oil that is really strong. It

desolves in alcohol. I suggest trying your own for creations. I do

love Eden's Bourbon Co2 when I need to use a fraction of an amount.

Have a great day!
