Guest guest
Hi Dennis, When you see the neurologist, make sure to tell him your family history, if it includes anyone with CMT, or even diabetes, or the Charcot Foot or anything else like balance or walking problems. Assuming this is your first visit, he will want this background and then to a series of manual tests, like test your reflexes, use a feather on the bottom of your feet, maybe check your vision, and other stuff. From there, you can ask him about doing the EMG/NCV testing, assuming youu haven't had this done at all, or for a long time. Results of that willl indicate how to proceed and then perhaps he will want to do the CMT full panel DNA testing on you. I can't diagnose you as having CMT or not. None of us here can. But a good neurologist can certainly go through diagnostic tests with you that may indicate CMT or even another hereditary neuropathy. I truly hope you can stay on your feet much longer. ~ Gretchen
