Guest guest
Hi! I posted my workout for yesterday, but I didn't see it ever come through. Yahoo was being really strange on me yesterday, so who knows what happened to it? It'll probably be delivered in about a month! LOL! Anyway - yesterday's workout was Breakthru Pilates Sculpt with Dozois and York. and team teach, each leading a group of exercises. It is a nice blend of functional, traditional, and Pilates techniques. The workout starts with standing exercises - lunges, squats, plies, etc. sometimes compounded with upper body and sometimes with a functional twist such as a rotation or balance element. Then it is on to the floor for exercises for upper, lower and abs. Pilates/core stuff is emphasized here. All in all, this is a good workout. Not sure why I don't reach for it more often b/c every time I do it I do enjoy it. I probably used lighter weights than I could have handled for some of the exercises and will have to make a note of it. I'm thinking of keeping a looseleaf notebook handy to write up notes on my workouts as I do them. I figured I'd alphabetize by workout name, so the looseleaf thing would be useful so I can shufle the pages around. I know I can do it on a computer, but sometimes the old-fashioned way is easiest - just bring my book out, jot down notes and not have to worry about having a computer handy. After Breakthru Pilates yesterday I did LeMay's Alive in Your Body lying stretches. This DVD is about an hour long, but it is well chaptered so you can do standing, seated or lying stretches. The lying stretches really emphasized hip and lower back stretching. Something I need more of, for sure. Today, inspired by Kassia's Petra workout yesterday I did Petra's Step, Rhythm and Moves. An oldie from Reebok! It has probably been about 5 years since I did this workout. It is a dancier step routine, but not impossible to follow. It isn't as tough aerobically as Cathe or Amy, but it is a fun little routine, I had a bit of trouble following in the beginning, but I think that was from being half asleep still. By the end of the workout I was doing pretty well and having fun with it. Wheeler is in this one as a background exerciser. I was thinking I should do more of Petra's workouts. I think I have a couple more. I do have her long and lean routine (also from Reebok). If I have time later (not sure if I will), I'd love to do that - it is about an hour of yoga/stretching as I recall. To round out my workout today I did the floor stretches from Tamilee Webb's stretch DVD. It is TOM - and it isn't good. I swear there is something to this organic/hormone free stuff. Since most of this month I was on vacation, I wasn't always having organic dairy and I was eating more (probably hormone laden) meat than usual, as a result TOM is not good at all. GRRR. Well, at least I can start fresh now w/ a new cycle! Oh, on an unrelated note, I'm thinking of postponing my FIRM rotation to October. I know there are three more FIRMs due out in September which I'm probably going to pre-order with an Amazon giflt card I have...I figured I might as well wait until those are out and do a mega FIRM rotation. But, now that means I have to figure out what to do for August. A part of me would still like to play it by ear as I have been doing, but I'm afraid I may not challenge myself enough. Maybe I'll plan 4 days a week and allow myself 2 play days a week. I'll see how it goes. I should try to get through some virgins and I was also thinking I should do some Turbo Jam and Amped workouts.... Take care!Donna
