P90X is on my wishlist. Not that I've had much luck with working out at home

LOL. I last a few days, then I get bored.

P90X does work! I know it's expensive, but the guys at our gym are

presenting 3 classes a day of P90X. We have a Beach Body coach at our gym

and I went from wearing size 17 jeans in December to 12 now in January.

Yeah, it's that good. You will get sore and you will want to kill the

coach, but trust me, it's worth it.

A good diet and exercise is the way to go for 2009.

Which is what is so nice about P90X! It changes constantly! Very fun and highly

recommended!

I saw a guy friend of mine last night who I hadn't seen in like six months.

He has been doing p90x and you can see a visible difference.

He's probably down three inches and wasn't " fat " before. h'es ripped and cut

and you can even see the difference in his face.

Well here's the thing, that's EXACTLY how I feel! I have the entire P90X

series at home but I prefer to go to the gym and work out with other folks!

It's just much more fun to listen to the other fat people grunt and groan.

I just like sharing those noises instead of keeping them to myself. LOL We

all get a good laugh out of each other.

My friend Dan did it. It took him and his wife a lot longer than the

recommend weeks, but they looked AWESOME and ripped when they were done. Him

more than her, and I think that's because he went with the program more and

she did more aerobics and less weights.

She is doing more weights now.

I have done a lot of P90X workouts and ended up with a modified rotation

using just the weight workouts (alternated with running HIIT). They're

GREAT! Definitely modify. And get out of your own way as far as what you

can accomplish - probably a lot more than you think.

Hi Janine!

Yes! It P90X is a kick butt workout. Each DVD is awesome. Just my two cents on

putting it on the shelf - don't do it!

I teach a very well attended, intense cardio-pump class at the local gym and I

always have people who come in to try the class in the hopes of getting great

results. When they start, I tell the to do as much as is comfortable (just short

of puking) for them. On the plyometric portion of the workout, just to do what

they can - especially in the beginning. I also tell them the only person they

are competing against is themselves, since some people want to start at the

level of the other participants who have been coming for more than two or three

years.

Long story short - I have some people who follow my advice and stick it out and

keep coming to class. Each week I see them progress with more reps, more intense

cardio, more endurance, etc. Then I see the people who give up, or the people

who say " I will come back to your class once I am in better shape. " I usually

see these people in the same shape and on the same treadmill week after week

with very little progress.

Keep it up! Do the modifications he suggests then add more reps or build the

intensity each time you do the DVDs. You can't be disappointed as long as you

really try. Play outside your comfort zone!

Thanks for all the advice, ladies! I'll try the modifications and just try not

to get too discouraged if I still can't get through the workouts. It just led to

a hefty kick to my ego yesterday. :-(

Follow-up: I went to bed early last night, after the workout, and spent all of

today crouching over with the same horrible feeling in my stomach. One of my

colleagues told me there's also a stomach bug going around school, so maybe it

was just a horrible coincidence. ...In any case, off I go now to try P90X

workout #2. Thanks for all your encouragement!

I do some p90x also the works are to hard for me to get through also. I handle

it differntly from some of the other women but I just pause the dvd when I just

can't continue rest a couple of minutes and jump back in. That has worked for

me, Over time I could get through more and more of the work outs with having to

pause for a break

I can't lie...that has been me. I've taken Body Pump and Body Jam at the gym and

felt like a complete fool. I told myself... " self, maybe you're just not ready

for this " . However you've given me some motivation to stick to it.
